Overview

The Subclass 485 visa, also known as the Temporary Graduate visa (Post-Study Work stream), allows international students to stay in Australia for 2 to 4 years after completing their studies. This visa permits you to travel, work, and study in Australia. However, you must find your own employment as the government does not arrange jobs for visa holders.

Study Documents

Completion Letter from your education provider, stating:
  - Date the course started.
  - Date you completed the course.
  - Your education provider's CRICOS code.
Certified Copy of Course Transcripts.

English Language Requirement

Valid Passport (if you are a citizen of):
  - United Kingdom
  - United States of America
  - Canada
  - New Zealand
  - Republic of Ireland

English Test Scores (within 12 months before applying):
  - IELTS: Overall score of at least 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in each part.
  - TOEFL iBT (if taken on or before 25 July 2023): Total score of at least 83 with minimum scores of 7 (listening), 8 (reading), 18 (writing), and 16 (speaking).
  - PTE Academic: Overall score of at least 57 with minimum scores of 43 (listening), 48 (reading), 42 (speaking), and 51 (writing).
  - OET: At least B in each part.
  - Cambridge C1 Advanced: Overall at least 176 with minimum scores of 162 in each part.
For British National (BNO) or Hong Kong Passport Holders:
  - IELTS: Overall score of at least 6 with a minimum of 5 in each part.
  - TOEFL iBT (if taken on or before 25 July 2023): Total score of at least 64 with minimum scores of 4 (listening), 4 (reading), 14 (writing), and 14 (speaking).
  - PTE Academic: Overall score of at least 50 with minimum scores of 36 in each part.
  - OET: At least B in each part.
  - Cambridge C1 Advanced: Overall at least 169 with minimum scores of 154 in each part.

Health Insurance Documents

Proof of Health Insurance:
  - Signed letter from a health insurance provider.
  - Medicare card or proof of enrollment with Medicare.
  - Evidence of health insurance coverage.

Character Documents

Australian Federal Police Check:
  - Complete disclosure National Police Certificate issued within 12 months before applying.
  - Forms:
    - Form 80 – Personal particulars for character assessment.
    - Form 1221 – Additional personal particulars information.
If requested, you may also need to provide:
  - Overseas Police Certificates: From every country, including your home country, where you spent 12 months or more in the last 10 years since turning 16.
  - Military Service Records or discharge papers if you served in the armed forces.
